Tory peer and ex Prof. of Surgery at Guy’s Hospital Lord McColl of Dulwich expressed concern that the NHS will be “wrecked” from people being too fat and their associated health problems, not to mention the millions that will lose their lives as a result.
Further to this he said it was “misleading” for politicians to claim that taking exercise will help people lose weight, when all they really need to do is eat less food.
– Lord McColl said in a Lords debate on Thursday: “In order for an obese person to lose weight – bearing in mind that most of them can’t exercise because they are so overweight – all he has to do is eat less.
“I recognise it’s not the job of politicians to tell people how to live their lives but it’s surely the duty of government to speak the truth and give a lead.
“By continuing to stress that exercise is the answer, politicians are misleading the public.
“The message is absolutely clear. This is the most serious epidemic to affect this country for 100 years. It’s killing millions. It will wreck the NHS for sure. The answer is simply to eat less.”
But Baroness Murphy, speaking “on behalf of well-rounded people”, argued it is as hard for obese people to lose weight by eating less as for heroin addicts to stop taking the drug.
She said: “What we need is population solutions, we need to support people to eat less and we will need to tackle the food industry.”

So there you have it Lord McColl of Dulwich makes a right old hash of it. Though I have to hand it to him, he is towing the party and governmental line.
However one has to wonder about his train of thought though when saying these things, you’d expect such an eminent medical professional to know wouldn’t you?
If the solution to the Obesity pandemics was complex and required an intellectual mind to understand it, you would think that this person would, if not at the pioneering level have some understanding on obesity cause and effect. These comments are not only extremely hurtful to anyone suffering with weight problems through 40 years of bad advice. But are at best inaccurate and intensely damaging not only to our precious NHS but to all present and future generations who are now desperate for a sustainable solution.
In contrast the oppositions Diane Abbott a Labour health spokesperson is much closer when hinting at what’s really going wrong and who is at the forefront of writing public health policies. It seems you don’t need a PhD in medical science after all! In addition comments from the Baroness are of course entirely relative as addiction is at the very heart of it.
So it appears that after years and years of studies and research sponsored by you know who, together with government select committee reports and the countless health advice we are spoon fed daily by the media is wrong?
That’s right fat cat governments and their paymasters throughout the developed world have for many years now, been lining their own pockets whilst knowingly allowing their populations to become addicted to sugar. Shame on You!
Fortunately for us and now you, there is a relatively simple solution.
It’s time for change…you need suffer no more.
